Creative Rationale
Over the Southern Ocean at 45°S latitude on the Greenwich meridian, in the turbulent waters between South Africa and Antarctica, strong westerly winds drive across relatively high pressure systems. The cold temperature anomaly of 6.2K with high humidity but no precipitation suggests a crisp, clear maritime atmosphere with sharp light cutting through dense air. I interpret this as energetic diagonal brushstrokes swept by the 13 m/s winds from the west, using Mitchell's cooler palette of steely blues and winter whites against a moderately luminous ground, with gestural clusters that breathe and move rather than densely accumulating.
