Creative Rationale
Over the vast steppes of central Mongolia, where extreme atmospheric conditions create a landscape of sparse moisture and bitter cold, the weather data reveals winds from the southeast at moderate intensity cutting through air so cold it approaches the freezing point of carbon dioxide, with virtually no humidity and crushing low pressure. In response to these harsh conditions, I've created a composition of densely packed silvery-white calligraphic marks against a deep blue-black ground, where the low pressure manifests as bold, sweeping gestural strokes that fill every inch of the canvas, while the extreme cold translates to cool metallic whites and silvers that seem to crystallize across the dark surface. The moderate wind speed generates a rhythmic density of marks that pulse and flow like frozen breath made visible, creating Tobey's characteristic all-over luminous network that suggests both the microscopic structure of ice crystals and the cosmic vastness of the Mongolian sky.
